It is very sad that the country that boasts of Mahatma Gandhi as the father of the nation and won independence on the policy of non-violence (ahimsa) was not part of the treaty to ban cluster bombs.

Homosexuality is still illegal in India, thanks to a British colonial law incorporated in the Indian Penal Code. Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code declares homosexuality illegal; it states:
“Whoever voluntarily has sex against the
order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with
imprisonment for life, or for a term that may […]

This image looks alright at the outset, but it has a red ribbon for the AIDS campaign on the top right corner and is captioned: “For God’s sake, do not have multiple sex partners.”

The world over food prices have drastically increased affecting the common man. The developed world is weathering this problem with subsidies and economic stimulus plans, which are in effect providing money to the common people. The developing world is left at lurch with the poor taking to the streets.
