Uma Bharati Used and Thrown by BJP

Manu Smriti was written millennia ago, but if in all of its history it was ever followed, then it is now and by the BJP.

BJP has a high regard for women, it treats women as mothers and Devis, but it has no high impression of them. In all of BJP’s history and even before, you will not find a single woman that has been in the higher echelons of power, leave alone lead the party.

BJP is of the impression that women cannot be leaders. Otherwise, in the whole of South Asia, many countries have powerful women leaders including India. Taking the Indian example:

To top it all, BJP has recently astutely accepted the solution for its survival - collective leadership - and even then, not one woman among the collective leaders. There are only two women that are even visible in the BJP - Sushma Swaraj and Uma Bharati.

Sushma Swaraj is constantly pacified by being given pseudo-posts and being patted by the leaders constantly.

It is Uma Bharati that the BJP has found hard to tame. And that is because Uma’s nature is such. She is an excellent speaker and the masses love and adore her. I’m a big fan of Uma! She is a capable leader if her impulses could be controlled.

Yet, the BJP uses Uma Bharati during elections, and after the elections, the party simply disposes of her.

She has given a press conference after her rout at the election for Madhya Pradesh’s CM, a very impressive one, where each of her question is a pointed arrow - swift, fair and on target.

She asks the BJP why she is denied promotions, why the party does not allow democracy, why she is viewed as a threat that needs to be ‘disciplined’.

But seriously, why does the BJP not allow for any internal criticism? If there is no internal criticism, then the organization will collapse; and with just external criticism, the party’s image is all set to fall.

If BJP itself is not democratic, what right does it have to lead the largest democracy in the world?
