Twin Tragedies strike North and South

Two man-made disasters - one accident, one very intentional - within 24 hours of each claiming >150 innocent lives that were looking forward to celebrate Deepavali with family and friends, sweets and lights…

Delhi blastsThe recent terror strike in Delhi has done to Indians what the bombing in London did to the British in July. More than 50 dead and more counting - all merry shoppers buying gifts and new clothes for Diwali. What dirty minds, what perversion can mastermind such cruelty and destruction on innocent, happy people?

India train accidentSecond scene close to Hyderabad - 100 people have been killed in a train accident that could easily have been avoided. The rains were very strong, our infrastructure is very weak, many trains were delayed, this was just waiting to happen. How could our Railway authorities not see this coming - did they really think that the record rains this monsoon would be like any other year? If infrastructure were better, we could pride ourselves and run trains through cyclones, but that’s not the case. Foresight should have cancelled all trains - but no!

I wrote yesterday only a few hours before this fateful event complaining about how rains can stop our cities from functioning. We all know that our infrastructure is not the best - if rains should not halt normal life, then improve the infrastructure before showing that rains are just vagaries of nature! Instead, we have continued to overlook the power of Nature, its fury, and went on trains speeding into flooded rivers.

Going back to Delhi - Pakistan has condemned the terror - thank you! BJP has called it a failure of intelligence - well, if intelligence were perfect then there wouldn’t be any terror at all, would there?

So far nobody has claimed responsibility - usually the perpetrators are very proud in coming out and sometimes there are even multiple claims as if this is like scoring first in the exams!

Our Army is already stressed - they have to help the earthquake victims, they have to help the cyclone victims - and they have to protect the nation! Are you kidding me?

A hot outburst! What’s your reaction?
