2 years in power for UPA - 20 years worth of damage
UPA is planning to celebrate its second anniversary of what they seem to call governance in India.
Let’s see if what they did is befitting of the high meanings of the word ‘governance’. Or if they have brought disrespect and something akin to anarchy in India.
Why all their allies are turning against them and the UPA seems to be falling apart, holding together with the one negative aim of keeping BJP/NDA out of power. Since their aim is just to be in power and keep the others out, all they do in govt. is to try and hold on to that chair. This has led to innumerable follies and plain dirty politics.
- Although I agree that Iran should have been referred to the UNSC, I disagree with the way Iran was referred to the UNSC by India as the govt. went back on its previous undertaking seemingly under US pressure.
- Cozying with the Muslims and just bringing about constitutional amendments to do whatever they want - such as the so-far failed attempt to give ‘minority’ status to Aligarh Muslim University - courts have ruled this is illegal, citizens are unhappy with it, but Congress will change laws to make it happen! Oh, but the Aligarh Muslims agree with Congress that without reservations they are not good enough.
- The Governors fiasco where Congress governors of states asked their partymen to form govt. in spite of their having failed in the elections!
- The evident lethargy of the govt. in fighting terrorism be it Islamic or Maoist - almost 75% of you agree with me here (see the polls on the sidebar, and vote!)
- Corruption is just another synonym for Congress - so says the UN itself, and later reinforced by the US, although American opinion is not respected anywhere.
- Arjun Singh’s famous testing of waters with offering reservations to Muslims in IITs, IIMs etc. - a heated discussion has ensued, thanks to you!
- Congress even makes third-rate criminals their Ministers - such as Natwar Singh who swindled money off the Iraqi oil-for-food program.
- The present turbulence in India regarding reservations for OBCs in IITs, IIMs and Central Universities - dividing India up into vote banks seems to be the theme of governance of the Congress.
- And I haven’t mentioned the declassified reports from Russia’s KGB where the Congress governed India was their working model to perpetuate communism in the world. (Although this did not happen in the last two years of UPA, the reaction from the govt. was pathetic to say the least.)
- The growing and constant trucks with the Supreme Court - I don’t remember the SC having disagreed with the govt. on so many counts previously. The Judiciary is certainly more respectable than the Legislature in India, and if the highest court disagrees with the govt. on many accounts such as Muslim-appeasement, the Governors fiasco etc., it tells me that something is wrong with the present govt.
Yes, this focuses only on the demerits of the Congress, but that’s what this post is about - how Congress has misruled India in just two years, wreaking havoc that will take decades to rectify, assuming Congress will not come to power in those decades!
So, I’ve given my certificate - throw the Congress out!

While I agree with you that the Congress govt is corrupt - and has been raping the country ever since 1947, the BJP/NDA govt which came into power did not really stand up to the mandate the people had given it.

The whole system is corrupt, the judiciary really cant do much since politicians change the laws that dont suit them, while at the same time hiking their ’salaries’.
